Description
Flame is part of my Shimmer Bowl range. A large bowl form with layers of texture, colour and sparkle! An abstract design of reds, oranges and gold tones, handmade in my signature style of glass lace. It is very highly textured with individually applied details which result in playful interactions with light and emphasis the natural shimmer of glass. I have tried to show the bowl in a variety of environments, as it does effect the look of the piece. Specifically the iridescent coating on the background glass, the photo I took outside shows the tones of gold through the purple more than any of the other images.
Using a variety of warm glass techniques and numerous kiln firings to create each one-off wall art, sculptural works and jewellery, I manipulate layers of specialist glass, in my chosen colour combinations, to construct captivating objects. A key theme running through my arts practise is exploring ways for us to slow down, encouraging us all to take a closer look at our surroundings, to appreciate the little things in life.
