Stevie Davies – Glass Artist and Designer
This is me, a Contemporary glass artist and tutor based in Wirksworth, Derbyshire.
As a full time professional artist with my own studio gallery & shop in the beautiful market town of Wirksworth, I spend my days running Create Space, surrounded by handmade goodies by various makers. It is also where I regularly host my creative workshops. One of my passions is teaching others to design and create with glass at my workshops and creating make at home kits. Enabling you to have a go and play with glass brings me a lot of joy!
Glass is such a beautiful material – it is very familiar to us but can be unpredictable and I find that a lot of my process plays with the dual nature of glass. It is solid and translucent, hard but delicate. I like to highlight the surface shine of glass by applying specific finishes and individual handmade elements with a focus on texture. I strive to craft dynamic works of art for you and your environment.
It was nice to be asked about my experience with D2N2 and have a profile written about me. Click through if you’d like a look and read a little bit about me in this article from December 2019 on Derbyshire Live.
Glass Art Commissions
I love receiving enquiries about one off commissions, talking about your ideas and how I can make them a reality, in my unique style, and I am honoured to have produced a huge range of bespoke creations for some very special people!
Like the piece shown here, I created glass puffin, with sparkly beak and water, rocks and flower inspired glass lace background as a wall art piece to sit alongside an Oystercatcher piece I previously made for the same commission clients.
If you want to see more, head to my commissions page where you’ll also find a contact form to get in touch with any questions.
I was honoured to be selected to create three bespoke artworks given to the CHWA 2021 award winners. Check out the details and a video about the sculptures here.
